Metro Alarm & Lock has a Reliable Fire Alarm System for Every Business
Metro Alarm & Lock is the Twin Cities’ choice for state-of-the-art fire protection. We are a UL listed fire alarm service company. We install the most advanced fire alarm systems available and follow up with our superior customer service.
Some of the most common components of a fire alarm system include:
- Control panel—central component of a fire alarm system
- Detectors—smoke, heat, and duct detectors
- Manual fire alarm boxes—to manually initiate an alarm signal
- Emergency battery – in the event of a power outage
- Audible and visual alerts—bells, horns, and strobe lights
- Sprinkler system—connections to waterflow and gate valve tamper switches, required for commercial properties
- Fire Alarm Communicator—for sending alarm, trouble, and supervisory signals to central station
Choosing a new fire alarm system isn’t only about adhering to code requirements; it’s also about getting the most effective system for your money.
Conventional Fire Alarm Systems
Conventional alarm systems meet the functional needs of smaller buildings and cost much less to buy. However because each of the devices located throughout the building is connected directly to the control panel with individual wires, conventional alarm systems require more time and materials to install.
In addition, most conventional systems are wired by zones. For example, the first floor could be wired as “Zone 1” and the second floor as “Zone 2. In the event of a fire in Zone 1, responders would only know the fire is somewhere on the first floor.
Addressable Fire Alarm System
While both types of alarm link call points and smoke detectors to a main control panel, an addressable fire alarm system can tell you exactly which device has been activated. This enables responders to identify and respond to the exact location of an incident more quickly.
All of the devices in an addressable system are connected to the control panel with a single wire. If one end of the loop in an addressable system becomes severed, signals can still be sent to the control panel via the other end of the loop.
An addressable fire alarm system is functionally superior, less expensive and easier to install, and can include a range of other features that can save the building owner money.
Metro Alarm & Lock can help you assess your particular needs and recommend the right fire alarm system for your money.
